No need to be anxious
We are in Branson! We arrived yesterday. This area is so beautiful and with the added blessing of our condo with a breath-taking view of the lake from the balcony, it truly is millennial! We are planning a horseback riding excursion this morning. I am under the weight limit – yay! But, just barely – boo! No really, poor horse.
Ten Days of Repentance
A Jewish co-worker recently asked me what name I call the time in between Rosh Hashanah and Yom Kippur. The Jews call this time the Ten Days of Repentance. This time holds special meaning and is a long standing tradition in their culture.
Thankfully
I am thankful. That sentence is one that bears repeating…over and over again…I am thankful. Being in an attitude of thankfulness for all that we have been given, without the entitlement mindset of having “old blessings”.
Calm and quiet spirit
Something that is lacking in the chaotic world in which we live is a calm, quiet approach to life. From the veritable flood of emotion of those recently “venting their feelings” in the town hall meetings regarding Healthcare Reform to the loudly abnoxious pop culture that seems to be pressing their agenda of loud and proud (as well as “we’re here and we’re queer”…but that is a matter for another day).
Emotional Control
I am beginning to see a trend in the news. It started with Representative Joe Wilson (R-SC) in an emotionally uncontrolled moment, lashing out saying to President Obama, “You lie!” on the House floor in open forum of Congress. No doubt his lack of restraint will cost him in respect among his peers and possible censure.
