Thankfully

I am thankful. That sentence is one that bears repeating…over and over again…I am thankful. Being in an attitude of thankfulness for all that we have been given, without the entitlement mindset of having “old blessings” is an important aspect of being Christian. There are in reality no old blessings, if their benefit is still felt. New blessings may be added, but the “old” ones still remain. Your spouse, your child or children, your house, car, job, and daily safety and protection – it all requires a thankful heart toward God for continuing to supply these blessings.

To remain in a state of thankfulness is to show to God that you know. You know who your Provider is. You know the Source. You know how limited your power and ability is and how much you need His blessings…every day of your life.

Taking the time to thank God sincerely…from the heart…each and every day is a worthwhile activity and one that pleases our Father in heaven. It is what Jesus did. When Lazarus, Jesus’ friend, had died and Jesus had traveled to Bethany, He prayed to the Father, “Then they took away the stone [from the place] where the dead man was lying. And Jesus lifted up [His] eyes and said, “Father, I thank You that You have heard Me.” (John 11:42) Jesus thanked His Father for hearing His request as He prayed in His mind. Still, Jesus said, “And I know that You always hear Me, but because of the people who are standing by I said [this], that they may believe that You sent Me.”

Jesus thanked God aloud because of those who stood by, so that they might believe. We can trust that God hears our prayers and we can believe that God will work miracles in our lives through the power of Christ living in us. God the Father does hear our prayers and when we are in an attitude of thankfulness, even more! Thank God today for His many blessings…for His many benefits.
