One of the signs to watch for in the Middle East is increasing unity among Arab nations in their stand against Israel and an Arab/Muslim union or confederacy forming against Israel. An article located on the StarTribune.com website dated December 15, 2009 states that Gulf Arab Nations have put into action a pact that would bring them closer to monetary union.
