Statement of Fundamental Beliefs

We often give the Statement of Fundamental Beliefs to those who call for a visit from the ministry. It is an important tool to help them understand the beliefs of the church quickly and succinctly.

Have you studied the statement of fundamental beliefs? I encourage you to take the statement of beliefs and look up each scriptural reference and cross-reference them in your Bible for convenience. This can prove very helpful when someone asks you a “reason for the hope that lies within you.”

As you examine each doctrine, match the doctrine up with the booklet that the church offers. This will help in conversations that come up to be able to point people in the direction of where they can find more comprehensive information than what you can give, or may even want to give, at that moment.

The fact is that people are not convinced by our eloquence or knowledge of the scriptures. In the end, they are convinced when they decide that what they have studied and understood is, indeed, the truth of God. Then they will be ready to change. Like the old saying goes, “A man convinced against his will, is of the same opinion still.”

That being said, however, it is critically important to discuss doctrines with other sound, solid church brethren. Iron sharpens iron, and so we can sharpen the understanding and knowledge of each other by hearty counsel. Not only is this, if done in the meekness of wisdom, very rewarding, it strengthens God’s church as a whole as we all grow to the measure and stature of Christ through the word of God flowing more powerfully in our lives.
