Rocket Launch a soaring success!

The Rocket Launch weekend in Wisconsin was a soaring success. 78 were in attendance at services on the Sabbath and there was a very good turn out today for the Rocket Launch and picnic at Bong State Park with 85 in attendance. The weather could not have been more beautiful and we can certainly thank God for that. After the picnic and bake-off, we drove a short distance to view a steady flow of rockets streaming into the sky. Some rockets had surprises like gliders which detached and flew in circles back down to earth. Some were very small like the “Port-a-potty” rocket (yes, there was one), while others measured up to 8 feet in length and really packed some punch! All the action was carried out on a very well-designed launching system that ensured safety and made the launch function very well. (Much appreciated T.E.)

After the rockets were all grounded for the day, there was a “Stop Goliath” activity for the kids with yours truly standing in for the towering giant! Though there were many attempts to take down the giant, he survived the day without being defeated by water balloons which were launched by way of 3-person slings. The kids had a great time, as did the grown-ups who took their turns as well (…but as I reminded them, “It’s for the kids! It’s for the kids!” ).

I certainly want to thank all the Wisconsin brethren for making my family and me feel so welcome over the weekend and for the wonderful atmosphere of love, kindness, and teamwork that was exhibited so evidently in their attitudes and actions. Also, I would like to thank Mr. and Mrs. P. W. for their hospitality and for opening up their home, not only for us, but for others as well.
